Maurita Nations, Secretary

Maurita chose to move to Paso Robles to spend time parenting and grandparenting, following the death of her husband.  Maurita's oldest daughter and family live in Paso Robles, including 11 yr.-old grandson Noah.  Most recently, she had worked 4-1/2 years at a Christian Church inOklahoma City which is an affiliated denomination of the United Church of Christ.  When the position of Administrative Assistant became available at Plymouth Congregational Church, she applied, notwithstanding a previous full orientation in "The Fellowship of the Church," and because she had already embraced the leadership and mission of PCC by choosing this historical church as her new church home.  Maurita has previously worked for many years of providing secretarial and personnel-payroll services in a wide spectrum of corporate entities, including oil and gas, the aerospace industry, and the City of Norman's Planning Department.  Together with her husband, she also provided secretarial services to small businesses, students and individuals from a home office for a number of years.

In addition to family and church work, Maurita has been actively committed to conservation of our natural resources and preservation of wildlife habitats through activities with the National Audubon, OK Native Plant Society, Sierra Club and other groups.  She says, "The rewards have greatly outweighed the investment.  I particularly enjoyed monitoring a bluebird trail for several years, even with the poison ivy and ticks, serving as State Board Secretary for OK Native Plant Soc. when their first journal was published.  The educational and spiritual values of 'getting outdoors' continue for me today."

Maurita is "a people person" in which she receives positive influence from people of literally all walks of life.  She finds fulfillment in working for a church that participates and instigates goals to make Paso Robles a community where all residents can enjoy living.   "PCC also extends its mission throughout the globe through International groups such as El Porvenir and The Heifer Foundation, as well as being a Global Missions Partner in the United Church of Christ," says Maurita.
